PSG Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, Marseille struck twice late to take a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
